2016 Frankfurt International Documentary Film Festival Calls for Entries to the Design of its Cartoon Mascot, Trophy and Logo

The 2016 Frankfurt International Documentary Film Festival (FIDFF) is organized by Huayun-Shangde International Cultural Exchange Co., Ltd. and the Institut International Transcultura. In conjunction with Thera Production and Observatory Eurogroup Consulting, many other international institutions are invited to take part in this cultural event and festival.

This event includes, but is not limited to, documentary film exhibition, copyright trading, award ceremony, forum for dialogues, as well as new product launches. With “Human and Nature” as its theme, the aims of the event are to appeal for everyone’s contribution in reshaping the harmonious relationship between man and nature, enhance mutual understanding among civilizations and highlight China’s sense of accountability in environmental protection.

I.Theme of the Documentary Festival: Human and Nature

The designs of cartoon mascot, trophy, and logo have to meet and follow the theme “Human and Nature.”

II.Requirements

Mascot

1.The cartoon mascot must reflect the idea and spirit of the 2016 FIDFF. Besides the emphasis on its international documentary film background, the appearance of the mascot will need to be fashionable, aesthetic and positively perceived by different cultures.

2.The cartoon mascot can be a single character or a group of characters. Its appearance should meet the values and tastes of the film festival to show the characteristics of the documentary film industry. Please give your mascot a Chinese and an English name.

3.The personality of the mascot is defined as kind, friendly and cute. It will be used in print, as well as on TV and online so please make sure its simplicity and vividness for commercial purposes.

Trophy

1.The 2016 FIDFF trophy should include design elements (including 3 golden trees and 1 white tree) that are in line with the features of the 2016 FIDFF such as elegance, generosity, innovation, international vision, as well as the fusion of Western and Chinese culture, tradition and modernity.

2.The trophy must display the characteristics of the documentary film industry and indicate the awards included in the film festival.

3.Please offer the colored renderings, structure design, size, and an explanation of your design ideas.

4.You can choose metal, colored glass, or crystal as material and a combination of different materials is also possible.

5.You should consider the structure, production, and long life period during the trophy design.

Logo

1.The design needs to be new and original as well as creative and fresh. It should present features related to the Documentary Film Festival.

2.It should be an easy-to-remember logo with well-designed colors, patterns, words and symbols.

3.Your design should be original and unpublished.

4.The logo should be recognizable and easy to reproduce.

5.Please add an explanation of your design ideas.

III.Important notes

1.The submissions of your designs must be saved in CMYK color mode in the two document formats JPG and PSD. ?The resolution of the design should be above 300 DPI.

2.This call for entries is free of charge.

3.Multiple submissions of designs are allowed.

4.In case that we receive similar or same works, the first one submitted will be considered as the original work.

5.If your design has multiple creators, please indicate the main creator.

6.The designs should not infringe rights of third parties. The creator will bear corresponding legal responsibility in case of any infringement in his or her works.

7.The intellectual property rights (including, but not limited to, the copyright such as display in print, 3D, or digital medias) of the selected designs will be transferred to sponsors by?the date of the prize payment.

8.The copyright of all submitted work will be protected by Chinese Law. The final ownership of intellectual property right will be specified in the contract.

IV.Prizes

The winning designs will be proudly displayed in the documentary festivals. The main creators of the winning designs will be invited to the 2016 FIDFF for free. In addition, a prize money amounting to RMB 10.000 is waiting for the winners in each design group.

All other creators will be awarded a gift as a memento of 2016 FIDFF.
